Hauts de Garonne Energies calls on members of the public to help finance their region’s decarbonisation
In a first for a heating network in the Greater Bordeaux area, local residents will have the opportunity to directly contribute to their region’s decarbonisation. Via the Solylend platform, dedicated to financing environmental and community-based projects, people will be able to invest up to €300,000 of the €30 million needed to expand and renovate the network.
Initially, only people living in the relevant towns will be able to contribute, for a preferential rate of return. The campaignwill be open to people living in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region in the second phase, then to everyone. The money will go towards renovating 70% of the network, saving more than 17,000 m3 of water per year, and extending the network, enabling an additional 2,800 equivalent housing units to access local, green energy.
Contributors will gradually receive their initial investment plus interest over a 3-year period. The work will be completed in 5 years, reducing the average age of the components of the 30 km network – which will use 85% renewable and recovered energy to heat 13,000 equivalent housing units – from 39 years to 4 years.
