A look back at the first anniversary of the Idex training class: education of excellence for the energy transition
Upgrading the skills of industry professionals is essential to meeting the growing challenges of the energy transition. Responding to this need, Idex set up its training class, an innovative scheme to train technicians specialising in energy maintenance.
One year on from launch, this pivotal programme has already produced its first graduate class of work, all of whom are in retraining. The students come from a variety of backgrounds, but all share the same ambition: to pursue a career in the energy transition.
Developed in partnership with the Marcel Cachin lycée in Saint-Ouen, the Centre Gustave Eiffel and the GRETA Seine-Saint-Denis educational centre, the Idex class was set up to train professionals in the maintenance and optimisation of energy infrastructures.
The 13 work-study students graduating from this first class were all in retraining as part of a programme leading to qualification as a heating, air conditioning and ventilation maintenance technician. At the same time, the immersion with Idex gave them hands-on
experience in managing heating networks and commercial sites in the Paris region.
As they prepare to take their final exam, these work-study students are entering a decisive phase in their training. The educational approach of the training class combines theory with practical experience in the field. This increases the employability of students while meeting the growing need for technical skills.
Looking beyond the training class, this programme is part of a broader ambition: to make careers a central component of the low-carbon transition, and to support the emergence of a model of excellence.
The presence of Karim Bouamrane at this event reflects the importance of this type of initiative at local level. By forging stronger links between training, employment and the energy transition, these programmes are helping to transform the way we work and
promoting the emergence of expertise tailored to today’s environmental and technological challenges.
This first year marks a key stage in the development of the programme, which is part of a long-term vision for the transformation of the energy business.
