The town of Épernay accelerates its energy transition with Idex
The capital of the Champagne region, Épernay, located in the Marne department of the Grand Est region of France, has awarded Idex the 24-year public service delegation contract for the town’s heating network.
One of the major challenges facing municipal authorities is to make towns and cities more environmentally responsible by replacing fossil energies with local and renewable energy. Idex, a key player in the local low-carbon energy market, is working alongside local government in Épernay to provide the town with competitively priced, local, low-carbon heating.
On 19 December 2023, Christine Mazy, the Mayor of Épernay, and Benjamin Fremaux, Idex CEO and Chairman, officially signed the public service delegation contract for the construction and operation of Épernay’s low-carbon heating network.
New biomass heating plant using 100% renewable energies
The Idex-led project guarantees 100% renewable energy cover thanks to the creation of a new biomass heating plant at the Mont Bernon production facility.
The result will be more than 9,700 tonnes of CO2 avoided every year – equivalent to removing 7,500 cars from the roads.
