Grasse Hospital
Grasse Hospital is a public health establishment. It includes the Clavary site grouping the medical, surgical, gynaecology-obstetrics, psychiatry and casualty services, and a modern technical centre. Le Petit Paris site is dedicated to the care of the elderly, with a geriatric unit closely integrated with the hospital's medical services. The main hospital also houses the machine rooms, with the boilers and refrigeration units required for smooth operation.
Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency

Le Petit Paris site is dedicated to the care of the elderly, with a geriatric unit closely integrated with the hospital's medical services. The hospital also houses the main machine rooms, with the boilers and refrigeration units required for smooth operation.
In 2011, the hospital made a commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Between 2015 and 2020, emissions rose by almost 30%, for scopes 1, 2 and 3. Energy usage was the main source of emissions, accounting for 84% of the total in 2020. The Clavary and Petit Paris sites produce 80% of emissions, owing primarily to their use of gas for combustion. To address this situation, the hospital invested €1.5 million in an ambitious energy performance plan to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and improve energy efficiency.
Grasse Hospital makes its energy transition with Idex
An experienced partner in the energy transition, Idex is responsible for implementing the plan. The solutions recommended by Idex incorporate advanced technologies such as condensing boilers, heat pump chillers and refrigeration units. The aim is to reduce gas consumption by 38% with electrical savings of 12%. Implemented for a 41,000 m² site with 545 beds, this initiative also draws upon Idex's multi-technical expertise to optimise patient comfort and safety, while ensuring the sustainability of the installations.
The project is also in line with the requirements of the decree applicable to commercial buildings in France, which is targeting a 40% reduction in energy consumption by 2030. Idex is responsible for the design and implementation of energy-saving works, as well as for the operation and maintenance of installations, with a firm commitment to meeting energy performance targets. Specific steps have been taken to improve the performance of the boiler plant, chilled water production unit, air handling systems, network balancing and the efficiency of the electrical auxiliaries in the boiler plant These measures are complemented by control, operation and preventive maintenance procedures, as well as by efforts to raise user awareness regarding energy consumption. This approach could be successfully extended to other hospital sites to accelerate its ecological transition.
