The government extends the freeze on gas prices for collective housing
On February 3, Benjamin Fremaux, Chairman of Idex, published an open letter to the Prime Minister to warn him that millions of French people were excluded from the gas tariff shield, especially those living in social housing. Acknowledging that this category “slipped through”, the government set things straight in a press release.
Until now reserved for individuals, this temporary measure implemented in October 2021 to protect consumers from the sharp rise in gas prices did not take into account many of our customers, i.e., those in multi-unit housing complexes heated via heating plants[NI1] or heating networks. This mistake was corrected by the government and announced on February 16, 2022 in this press release.
The government extends the gas tariff shield to 5 million households living in condominiums or social housing. Idex group praises the swift action taken by Prime Minister Jean Castex.
