Kenvue selects Idex to reinforce energy self-sufficiency at its Sézanne production site
The French subsidiary of global consumer healthcare company Kenvue, asked Idex, a key player in the local low-carbon energy market, to install solar infrastructure and EV charging points at its production site in Sézanne, north-eastern France
Kenvue is committed to cutting its greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 (versus a 2020 baseline) in order to combat climate change, while developing energy resilience and independence at its sites.
Idex has now equipped an area of over 16,000 m² with solar panels.
The plant's annual electricity production is estimated at 1,850 MWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of around 400 French households. The electricity generated by the 3,070 panels will cover over 22% of the plant's annual energy needs.
At the same time, 12 EV charging points are already available and this number could be increased to 44 in the longer term, to meet the requirements of Kenvue employees.
Fully financed by Idex over 15 years, this major €2 million project took eight months to complete from the start of works.
Further underlining Kenvue's ecological commitments, maintenance of the site will be based on a system of sustainable conservation grazing.
For this long-term partnership, Idex is providing a turnkey solution from design to maintenance, via financing and management. Through this project, Kenvue is ahead of regulatory requirements
By providing EV charging points for its employees, Kenvue is already in compliance with legislation scheduled for 2025. The same applies to the solar panels, since new legal requirements in the pipeline will make the use of renewables compulsory on production sites.
