Meeting expectations for energy transition in towns and cities
According to an opinion poll carried out by Odoxa for Leyton-CTR to mark the 2020 Salon des Maires, 66% of people in France believe energy transition is the number one priority for action by local authorities. This belief is shared by France’s mayors, with 94% of them declaring it a priority.
But only 47% of residents say they are satisfied with actions rolled out locally to make their council area more environmentally friendly. If pollution is one of the biggest worries for those interviewed (39%), fighting it is the lowest priority for their elected representatives (14%). One illustration of this mismatch is that rolling out dedicated cycle routes is the number one goal for most mayors (49%), a priority not shared by the French people, who placed it last (21%).
What people want are real-world solutions for limiting emissions of CO2.
Energy transition is one such solution: geothermal, biomass, waste recovery, etc., are all renewable energy sources that justify the massive rollout of district heating and cooling networks in towns and cities.
For over 50 years, the Idex Group has supported local authorities with all aspects of their energy generation and management projects. Towns and cities leverage our know-how to ensure their energy security, respecting environmental regulations and constantly monitoring emissions. Energy plants that are always more available, and always less energy intensive.
The city of tomorrow is a carbon-neutral city. Working together we can make this possible!
