Powerdot, France’s leading rapid charging network operator, is joining forces with the sustainable energy solutions specialist Idex to promote Idex’s integrated “Plugged-in Parking” solution. The aim of this collaboration is to address environmental challenges, budgetary constraints, and legal requirements with an exclusive turnkey solution for commercial buildings and public spaces with car parking.

The signing of this partnership comes at a pivotal moment, in response to new laws on sustainable mobility and accelerating the energy transition. France’s LOM (Mobility Orientation Law) requires car parks with more than 20 spaces to equip 5% of these with charging points and pre-equip others for future installations, while the new renewable energies law requires the installation of solar panels on all outdoor parking areas larger than 1,500 m2, with fines of up to €40,000 for non-compliance.

The partnership with Idex offers a comprehensive solution for using the energy produced by the solar panels above to power the charging stations below and/or the client’s building. This potentially reduces electricity costs and also allows unused energy to be exported to the local grid.

Shared vision for a low-carbon future

The vision Powerdot and Idex share of a low-carbon future inspired them to create a complementary solution to facilitate the installation of energy infrastructure in tertiary-sector parking facilities.

Matthieu Dischamps, Head of Powerdot France, emphasizes that this agreement represents a significant step toward the decarbonization of commercial spaces. Edouard Roblot, Head of Low-carbon Building at Idex, describes how this partnership strengthens Idex’s leadership position in local, low-carbon energy.

Together, Powerdot and Idex are redefining sustainable mobility by combining rapid charging and solar energy to offer a novel solution for commercial buildings and public spaces in pursuit of energy transition.
